Why Is It Important to Integrate Social Marketing in Search Engine Optimization?
Posted on June 24th, 2009 | by John Baril |Some internet marketers focus on doing things that would increase their rankings in the search engines but do not take into account social media tools. This is a major blunder! Social marketing is a primary strategy during off-page search engine optimization (SEO) in increasing your number of back links and generating more website traffic.
You have to remember that when search engine spiders begin their job, they take into account the “relevance” of a site by its relationship to other sites. Thus, if your website or the website you are trying to promote has relationships with other sites, it will be regarded by the search engines as more relevant than those with less or no relationships. The more relevant a website is, the higher its rankings in search engines. For this reason, the use of social marketing in optimizing your blog or website is very advantageous. What is even better is that most of the social media tools out there are for free!
“Off-page SEO” refers to the things you do outside of your site (off-page) that contributes to your site’s promotion. Good off-page SEO includes quality, quantity and relevance. Having quality visitors means having visitors who are interested in your business. Quantity is always beneficial but as expressed only previously, a thousand visitors who would not even give a thought to your business will not be of much help to you. Yes, your traffic is increased but your sales rate remains the same. Relevance entails establishing relationships with sites whose content are related to your site and finding the right demographics.
