    These are several benefits. What they all amount to is that you can quickly get a snapshot of the value of a website within a given niche. Keep in mind that any data gathered through Alexa cannot be compared across niches. Data is gathered through the toolbar; given that webmasters and marketers tend to be the people who have the toolbar installed, sites they visit will naturally show much more traffic than other sites they visit less, even if the traffic levels are really the same.
