A Message To Part-Time Internet Marketing And Sales People… Hang On To Your Day Job!

Posted on April 30th, 2009 | by John Baril |

A lot of people with regular jobs would love to work from home full time doing  Internet marketing and sales. This is a great dream to have, especially if you already have a business idea that catches your imagination and has the potential to succeed online at some stage in the future.

In the meantime, my advice to you is simple: Hang on to your day job while you learn how to make money doing Internet marketing and sales. While some people take a cynical attitude to what they call their J-O-B (just over broke, ha ha ha), the fact is that for many people, their job is a lifeline that keeps them off the breadline.

I am not saying that you should never quit your job for your own business. Far from it. However, timing is important.

    Hi John,

Your article reminds me of a story where the general burns the ships once the army anchored on the enemy’s shore. He burnt the ships to prevent the soldiers from turning back even if they lose the battle.

This story was told to me by Stone Evans, one of the most successful Internet marketers of our times. He suggested we burn our ship and go full time online marketing.

The aim was to be left with no option of livelihood than to learn quick and master the art of online marketing.

Good intentions but I doubt the practicality of burning your ships unless you have something to back up or sustain the business.

    Nice post.
