Seven Easy Steps Towards Marketing  Ezines

If you want to build up a viable Internet business you are going to need a mailing list. Yes, it is true that the money is in the list. What you need to do is find a sure-fire way to build that list as quickly as possible and have some method in place to keep on adding a regular flow of new names to it.

The best way to do that is to offer visitors to your website something of value, an free incentive that is relevant to their reason for visiting your website. This is usually in the form of a free report, e-book or newsletter. To get the freebie, they will need to "opt in" to your mailing list.

People who opt in to your list expect to hear from you. This is called "permission marketing" because they are giving you permission to e-mail them. This offers you an opportunity to establish a relationship with your subscribers and  build a loyal customer base.

Here are seven key tips to help you build your opt in list more quickly.

1. Promote your marketing ezines in other business newsletters and ezines. You can either pay for advertising space or do an exchange mailing with a fellow Internet marketer who runs a list in a related, but not identical, niche to your own.

2. Advertise on ezine directories such as Ezine-Dir.com, IdeaMarketers.com, New-List.com, SparkList.com, Subs.Zinester.com and so on.

3. Post articles on article directories and direct traffic to your ezine splash page via a link in the signature file of the article.

4. Offer your services as a "guest blogger" on other people's blogs in exchange for being able to post a link back to your ezine opt-in page.

5. Promote your newsletter on traffic exchanges. These are ideal places for posting a squeeze page linked to your marketing ezines. Offer a compelling time-limited freebie to increase the number of sign ups, but make the appeal brief so that it caters to the short attention span of the traffic-exchange audience.

6. Write an e-book with the aim of making this the free bonus that you offer new subscribers. Once you have a value-packed e-book of your own, you will be able to post compelling reviews of it on blogs, forums, in newsletter ads, on Squidoo pages and so on. Each time, link back to your squeeze page so that people can join your list and download your book.

7. Post some back issues of your newsletter on your website so that people can see how good it is. Post your sign up form or a link to your squeeze page alongside the articles.

This is not an exhaustive list by any means. Some people swear by targeted PPC campaigns. Others make banners and post them around the Internet, while for some people, classified ads are the preferred method of promoting their marketing ezines.

Whichever methods you choose, track and test your campaigns so that you can measure your results and keep on building a viable Internet business.
