Stop
Trying To Make Millions Online Before You Have Broken Even

Ever
heard of the saying that you should not try to run before you have
learned to
walk?
The
same thing applies to achieving business success on the Internet.
Every
day thousands of people go online with some kind of affiliate marketing
deal or
instant website package with vague expectations to make millions online
on
nothing more than hot air and idle promises.
If
you are one of those people - stop kidding yourself! Wake up! You
cannot make
millions online with Internet marketing until you learn how to stop
losing
money.
Make
"break even" your first goal. Set a deadline for when you will
achieve that aim. If you are a complete beginner, give yourself a few
months or
even a year in which to achieve that aim. Now go and work your tail off
to
achieve it. (Yeah, sorry to burst your little balloon, but all that
talk about
earning thousands of dollars while you sleep is irrelevant to you at
this
stage. You must WORK at your business. Work. Work. Work.)
Once
you know how to break even with your Internet business you will have a
good
foundation on which to build. If your long term aim is to make $5,000
or
$50,000 per month on the Internet, I am not trying to put you off that
aim.
Instead, I want you to approach it realistically by learning how not to
lose
money as a first step towards your goal.
So,
now we have got that sorted out, how can you get from losing money to
breaking
even in as short a time frame as possible?
Here
are a few brief pointers for the long term and the short term .
Long
Term Strategy:
1.
Exercise financial discipline. In other words, set a budget and stick
to it. Do
not indulge in impulse purchases of the latest "sure fire mega
profits" program that you come across. Setting a budget and respecting
its
limits will help you to discipline yourself and force you to PLAN your
expenses
better.
2.
Learn how to use free or low-cost ways to market your business on the
Internet.
Article writing, blogging, traffic exchanges and online forums offer
some
excellent free or cheap ways to promote your website.
3.
Build a list. One expense I recommend is an auto-responder. Place a
sign up
form on the landing page of your website and offer your visitors a
strong
incentive to add themselves to your auto-responder mailing list. Now
you can
send them useful information and promote your products and services as
part of
an on-going, trust-building relationship. This is a much more
cost-effective
way of doing things than trying to sell your stuff to first-time
visitors to
your website.
These
three steps will help you to keep a lid on your expenses while building
your
mailing list, which is the key to your long term Internet business
success.
Now
let's look at some short term methods of generating some income.
Short
Term Strategy:
1.
Add Google Adsense ads to your website and earn a few cents each time
someone
clicks through.
2.
Post some Amazon.com ads on your site. Amazon is one of the most famous
stores
on the Internet and people are willing to buy from Amazon because it is
a
trustworthy business. If you choose your Amazon products wisely, you
may find
that you can earn enough commission each month to cover your business
expenses.
True, the commissions are low, but the trust factor makes people much
more
likely to buy; they may not trust you, but they do trust Amazon!
3.
You can earn click-thru commissions from companies like Max Bounty.com
when you
post their banners on your site. You will not earn much per click, but
some
Internet marketers have found this method to be a good way to earn a
few
dollars, or more, per month.
4.
Offer your own services such as blog post and article writing, proof
reading,
editing, HTML and web design and many other services. You can advertise
yourself on some of the popular free forums such as Warriorforum.com or
Digitalpoint.com. If you follow this advice, you will get lots of
business and
it will happen very fast.
By
adopting short-term monetization and long term business building
techniques
while operating with the constraints of a fixed budget, you will be
preparing
the ground for business success on the Internet. With enough time,
effort and
experience behind you it is indeed possible to make millions online but
you
must do a lot of ground work first.
I wish you the
best
of success,
