Anyone who is serious about an
online business will know about the true value of having a blog. If you
host your own blog, then blogging is an excellent way to continually
add fresh content to your website. You can make your posts as long or
short as you like. It should be fairly easy for you to post
to your blog everyday. To accomplish this, you just need to assemble a
few words and then hit the publish button.
A blog that has
nothing but text can be too boring for many surfers. To make your blog
more attractive and appealing to the eyes of your readers, you can
easily insert quality blog pictures or other images.
People are more easily attracted to a blog with pictures, so once they
land on your blog, they are more likely to stay and read.
The first question that comes up is what sort of images or pictures
should I be adding?
The picture should be related to the theme of the blog post. If, for
instance, you are posting a discussion about an affiliate product, then
you should include an image of this product. You should be able to get
plenty of product images from the affiliate tools page of the program
you are promoting.
A simple banner related to the product will suffice as well.
If you are doing an ebook review, then an inserted picture of the book
cover will make a huge impact on the effectiveness of the post.
Let’s say you are writing a review of a certain website. You
could, for instance, put the website logo into your post or maybe you
could include a copy of the site’s Alexa traffic graph.
Blog widgets are quite popular these days, so if you wanted to post a
review about a useful widget, then you could include the actual widget
or at least include a screen shot of this widget.
Whatever you decide to do here, make sure that you hyperlink the image
so that everyone who clicks on it will be taken directly to the related
site.
If you have a blog with pictures and have a series of related posts,
consider branding the series with a unique image attached to each these
posts. In this way, you will improve topic recognition and your
visitors will have a sense of continuity as they move throughout your
blog.
You can find suitable images for your blog by going to Google and doing
an image search. You should be able to find lots of free images in this
way.
Another thing that you can do for images is to take your own photos
with a digital camera. You can take photos that are related to the
theme of the blog post or you could do something more fanciful
– the more fanciful and outrageous, the better.
Use your
imagination as you never know what you will come up with!
Here’s an idea: Let’s say you have a funny photo of
an amusing family mishap or, perhaps, a hilarious pet photo. Why not
post it on you blog and use it as a kind of metaphor in a post about
"Internet marketing blunders you want to avoid" or "If only I could
train my down line to do this..."? ;-)
If you don’t have or do not want to use your own photos, you
can search online for photos which are published under a Creative
Commons license. A great site to find these types of photos is
Flicker.com.
Here is another great reason why you should consider creating a blog
with pictures. The images will help a lot with the SEO of your blog
posts. After you upload an image, insert an ALT tag into the image code
and include the keyword phrase for the post. Make sure, of course, that
this keyword phrase is relevant to the image and the post.
The main point you will want to consider with blog pictures is to not
let them dominate your post. The image should enhance the post but not
be too overbearing. Ultimately, you still want your visitors to read
the text as this is where the primary message is.
Now keep in mind that you should
not neglect posting to your blog if you don’t have the time
to do an image search and inclusion. Blog posts don’t require
images (they are a nice enhancement) but the most important thing for
you to do is to post regularly.
Creating a blog
with pictures will definitely draw more attention to your posts.
Remember though, you still need to write a good quality post to
supplement the image you are using.
I wish you the best
of success,
