Other Uses of
an Ads
Tracking Program – Part A

In the past two
articles I described different
ways how an ads tracking program can be utilized to monitor and improve
your
advertising campaigns for your Internet marketing business. In this
article, I
will begin to explain other ways in which you can use an ads tracking
program
for your online business endeavors.
1. Use an ads
tracking program to keep your
business going forward and prevent online malpractice.
a. A
standard affiliate link will usually contain an affiliate number that
is
attached to the end of a URL. For whatever reason, there are a lot of
people
that take pleasure in ripping others from their affiliate commissions
by
deleting the affiliate number from the URL. But, if you change all of
your
affiliate links to tracking links, nobody will be able to do this and
your
affiliate link will be protected.
b.
Another problem website owners face is piracy. It’s not
difficult at all for
hostile webmasters to see the HTML source code of one of your web pages
and
steal it in order to quickly make a page of their own. If you have a
resource
page with a lot of links going out to other sites, the thief will save
yourself
a lot of effort by copying and pasting it to his own site. But if every
link on
your page is a tracking link, you'll quickly be able to see that clicks
on your
tracking links are coming from a different website than your own. If
that
happens, you should contact the website owner and demand that they
remove the
page from their website. If they ignore you, you can take it a step
further by
contacting their hosting company and explain the issue with them. More
than
likely they’ll take the page down.
c.
If you want to run a PPC campaign or already are, using tracking links
is great because
you can compare your stats against those of the PPC service that you
are using.
In particular, you will be able to detect suspicious activities such as
multiple clicking on your ads which is usually done by hostile
fraudsters who
want to price you out of the market by making you pay more than you
should.
Every time someone clicks on your ad, you have to pay a small amount of
money
to the PPC Company. However, if you are using tracking links, you will
be able
to see that the repeated clicks are coming from the same source. If
this
happens, report the activity to your PPC company. They will look into
the
matter and most likely reimburse you for the fraudulent charges.
2. You can use
an ads tracking program to protect yourself against changes and
developments
in your business. You should get into the habit of tracking every
single one of
your links. Then, if you decide to drop one of your web pages and
promote
another, you won’t have to replace the links on your website.
Instead, you’ll
just redirect the tracking link to your new page via the ads tracking
control panel. This will save you a lot of time and hassle. Likewise,
you can
do this when you change affiliate products or programs as well.
This means that
you can promote your tracking
links and not worry about whether things will change in the future.
However, if
you insist on promoting your original URLs, they will continue to hang
around
the Internet and in people's inboxes long after the page they are
linking to
has ceased to exist. This can be a bad thing and hurt your online
business a
lot.
3. You will
also be able
to disguise the identity of your website by using a tracking link
wherever your
link is displayed. This could be very beneficial if you want to promote
something without revealing your identity.
Of course, once
somebody
clicks through from your tracking link that points to your
website, they will be able to see your web site's URL in their browser
and find
out more about you from your "about me" page, if you have one.

wish you the best of success,
