Why An Ad
Tracker
Could Be Your Most Important Internet Marketing Investment

Anyone who
seriously wants to make money online
with affiliate programs will definitely want to invest in a top-quality
ad
tracker program. They will want to learn how to use it to constantly
monitor
and improve the performance of his or her links and advertisements and
marketing efforts.
So how does an
ad tracking program work?
The process is
really quite straightforward.
Whenever you post an advertisement, or advertise your affiliate links,
you will
replace the actual link with an ad tracker link. You set this up using
the ad
tracker program. This is simply a matter of entering the original link
into the
program and clicking a button. The program will then generate a
tracking link
which you use in place of the original web page link.
For example, if
you are writing a classified ad
without using an ad tracker, you would simply add the web page URL in
the
classified ad, but when you use an ad tracker to monitor your ad, you
enter the
original web page URL into the ad tracking program and make a new
tracking URL
which you place in the classified ad.
In the case of
a classified ad displaying a
standard web page URL, whenever somebody clicks on the link they are
taken
directly to the web page, but the website owner has no way of knowing
how many
people have clicked on the link. On the other hand, whenever somebody
clicks on
an ad tracker URL in the classified ad, the link will direct to that
person to
the web page, but it will also register the action in your ad tracking
software
program statistics. Now, you will be able to see exactly how many
people have
clicked on that particular link.
That's great,
you might say, but why is it
necessary to track your ads?
Active Internet
marketers will have numerous
different kinds of advertisements posted in various places across the
Internet.
Without ad tracking they have no way of knowing which ads are effective
and
which ads are not. They have no way of systematically improving their
ad
performance.
But those
marketers who track their advertising
are able to see which ads perform well and which perform badly, and
they can
replace those ads that perform badly. Each time an ad is replaced, the
new ad
will be tracked and its performance can be measured. This is a simple
but very
powerful technique because if it is consistently applied to all your
online
advertising it means that your ads are guaranteed to improve over time
as you
are constantly filtering out the losers and running with the winners.
Also, as you
get better at writing ads, you will
find that last year's winners may become this year's losers, not
because they
are performing less well, but because your ad writing skills are
getting better
and better.
When you
consider how beautifully simple the
concept of ad tracking actually is, it is amazing how many so-called
Internet
marketers shy away from using ad trackers. Sure ad trackers require a
little
more work since you must set up and monitor your links, but a little
effort
yields much greater efficiency and much more profit potential for
anybody who
is willing to do it.
Professional ad
trackers do much more than
simply count the number of clicks your ads are generating. They also
track
where your traffic is coming from, and record IP addresses and time
logs. You
will be able to track first time and repeat visitors and see the
keywords they
used to find your web pages. You will also be able to monitor their
activity on
your website.
As you can see,
investing in an ad tracker will
really open your eyes to what works and what doesn't work on the
Internet.
Without an ad tracker, you are marketing in the dark.
I
wish you the best of success,
