Affiliate
Products On Your Website Using Product Reviews

If you
are
trying to sell affiliate products on
the Internet but not having much success, stop what you are doing and
take a
look at your website. Is it crammed with banner ads and sales copy for
this or
that affiliate program?
If it
is, it is
probably not getting the results
that you really want for the simple reason that people hate being sold
to when
they go online to search for information.
I don't
mean
that people never buy anything
online. That is obviously untrue. Online sales are rising year by year
and
there is no reason why you cannot grab a piece of the pie yourself.
However,
the
way to do it is not to focus on
what you want to sell but on what your visitors want. Generally
speaking, what
they want above all, before they will be willing to buy, is
information.
Therefore, if instead of trying to sell them something, you give them
the
information they are looking for, you will stand a much better chance
of being
able to sell to them later on.
To sell
affiliate products straight from your
website to first-time visitors is a possibility, but in most cases
people do
not buy on the first exposure, so it should not be your main priority.
So what
you need is a way of getting as many visitors as possible to join your
mailing
list so that you can stay in touch with them and educate them about
your
products.
Instead
of
placing all your affiliate products
and programs on one page in the hope that someone will buy something,
do not
feature more than one product on a page. Seek to draw traffic to that
page by
carefully choosing your keywords. Try to think what keyword phrase
somebody
might search for who is interested in buying a product such as the one
you are
offering, and use that keyword phrase in your headline, the opening and
closing
paragraph, in the page title and meta tags.
Now
write a
review of the product. Do not use
hyped up language and do not try to sell the product. Your review
should
provide valuable information to the reader. Ideally you should have
purchased
the product yourself so that you can describe the purchasing process as
well as
reviewing the product itself. This will give your review credibility
and if at
the end, you provide a link to the affiliate product sales page, you'll
probably get a higher conversion rate than you had previously enjoyed.
Even so,
you
cannot expect the majority of
people who visit your page to buy the product, so you need to make them
an
offer that will be much easier for them to go for.
Offer to
give
them much more detailed
information in the form of an e-book or report which they can download
free by
filling in a form that is prominently displayed on each page of your
website.
To
download the
product they will need to give
you their name and e-mail address and agree to receive your newsletter.
Many
more people will be willing to provide an e-mail address than to hand
over
their credit card details on their first visit to a website.
They
will be
even more likely to sign up to your
newsletter and receive your free gift if you have already demonstrated
your
credibility by creating a website that is full of useful product
reviews and
editorial style articles relating to your niche market.
Ideally,
you
should write your own e-book about
your niche market. Think about what you're potential customers are
looking for
and supply the information. Of course, you can include your product
links in
your e-book, but your main sales weapon is your newsletter. Use it to
build up
a relationship with your subscribers, so that they can get to know and
trust
you. That is the basis on which you will be able to softly sell
affiliate
products to them again and again.
I
wish you the best of success,
