This
simple email strategy
is something that you can do for your Internet business, even if you
hate
promoting it to your "friends and family". It is a free, simple and
quiet method that places your business link in your contacts' inbox
again and
again - without any risk of you being accused of spamming. You can set
it up in
five minutes and then forget about it and it will go on working for you
every
time you send out an email.
Intrigued?
Maybe
you have guessed
already that I am talking about setting up a signature file on your
email
account. Setting up a signature file is a simple email strategy that
you can
use to promote your website.
It
doesn't matter
which e-mail client you use, you'll be able
to set up a
"signature file" that will be automatically attached the foot
of
every email that you send out.
For
the purposes of this
article I will assume that you use Outlook Express, Hotmail, or G-mail,
but the process is just as simple with other email clients.
How
To Add A Signature File
To Outlook Express:
1.
Click on
"Tools" and select "Options".
2.
In the new window, click
the "Signatures" tab and choose "New".
3.
Click the
"Text" button and enter your promotional ad, plus a link to the
website.
4.
Once you've finished,
click on "add signatures to all outgoing messages" and click
"Apply" to save your alterations.
5.
Now click
"Okay" and you'll have made your own signature file.
That
is all there is to it!
To
see that it works, send
yourself an email and check whether your signature file appears beneath
the
message.
How
To Add A Signature
File To Hotmail
1.
Select
"Options" in the top right corner of the Hotmail page after you have
logged in.
2.
Now click on
"More Options"
3.
Scroll down to
"Customize your mail" and click on "Personal email
signature".
4.
Insert your blog and
website link in the field and click "Save".
That's
it! Even easier than
for Outlook Express.
But
the easiest of the lot
to set up is G-mail.
How
To Add A Signature
File To G-mail:
1.
Log into your account
and select "Settings" in the top right corner of the browser.
2.
You'll be taken to the
settings page where you will see a "Signature" field. Enter your
promotional blurb and web link into the field and click the adjacent
radio
button - NOT the one marked "No Signature".
3.
Click on "save
changes" and you've completed the operation.
That
is all there is to
setting up a signature file and having it automatically attach itself
to every
email you send out. Now, here are some hints about how to write a good
blurb
for your signature file...
1.
Remember to
"KISS" - Keep It Short and Simple.
2.
Make it worthwhile for
your prospect to visit your website by offering a free gift such as an
e-book
or useful web tool etc.
3.
When you type the
website URL, do it correctly by starting from http:// so that the link
can be
clicked on. If the link is not "live" then people won't make the
extra effort to visit your website.
4.
Use plain text to keep
it simple and unobtrusive. The last thing you want to do is irritate or
alienate your prospect with in-your-face gimmicks. Adding
a signature file to
your email account is really an Internet marketing "no brainer", so
capitalize on this free and easy email strategy for publicizing your
internet
site.
