Sides To How
You Can Improve Website Ranking

Starting
up a website and creating good content
for it is really only the beginning of a successful Internet marketing
campaign.
If you want to get sales to your website, you need to be seen in the
search
engines. More accurately, you need to improve website ranking so that
it
appears in the top three or four listings for appropriate keyword
searches
across a range of search engines, but most importantly Google and
Yahoo, the
two most popular search engines on the Internet.
Part
of
the process where you improve website
ranking involves the website itself. I’m talking about search
engine
optimization. Basically, this involves posting original and relevant
content on
your website which includes the keyword phrases that will help bring a
targeted
audience to your site. You want to place those keywords in your
headline, sub
headline, opening and concluding paragraphs, and design your web page
so that
it is easily navigable by search engine spiders. This is all part of
the SEO
process.
Each
page of your well designed website should
demonstrate good search engine optimization quality. Also, each page on
the
website should support the other pages through a series of hyperlinked
keyword
links. For instance, as well as the navigation menu in the sidebar or
somewhere
at the top of the website, you should also place hyperlinked keyword
links to
the various sections of the website at the bottom of each web page. A
site map
is also beneficial for website SEO purposes, as well as for helping
visitors to
navigate your website.
The
other part of the procedure where you
improve website ranking must be done elsewhere on the Internet. This is
done by
building backlinks to your site from other websites. Link exchanges are
still
helpful, but search engines give much more credit to independent
backlinks, or
one-way links. This is because when a Webmaster adds a one-way link to
his
page, he/she is sending out a message that the target website offers
useful
content for readers of his/her own website.
If
you
want your website to dominate your niche
market on the search engines, you need to concentrate on building a
web, or a
pyramid of one-way backlinks to your website.
What
websites should you be targeting for your
one-way backlinks? Actually, there’s a wide range of websites
that you should
seek out in your backlink building campaign. The sites where you post
your
links should be thematically related to your own website for best
results. They
don’t have to be related, but those that are will be given
more emphasis when
calculating the rank of your website on search engines.
The
kinds of sites you want to target for
backlink building are blogs, forums, article directories, Web
directories,
social networking sites, and authority sites in your field of business.
Another
factor you want to think about when
seeking out websites for your back linking campaign is the page rank of
the
website you want to link back from. A page rank of "PR5" and up is
the most desirable. However, if you think that a lower ranked website
has
potential, then do not hesitate to post some content and generate a
backlink to
your website on it.
These
two aspects of how to improve website
ranking - website SEO and backlink building - if used in combination
with each
other with useful, relevant, and compelling content on your website,
will prove
themselves to be two of the best tools you can use to build your online
business.
I wish you the
best
of success,
