What Is Affiliate Program Marketing?

An easy and very popular method to start a small and simple internet marketing business is to get involved in affiliate program marketing.

Affiliate program marketing is simply promoting someone else’s product or service on your own website or blog and earning commissions when you generate sales through your affiliate links for those products and services. There are even companies that will pay you for leads that you refer, which can do well because all you have to get people to do is click a link. It doesn't matter whether or not they buy the product, you’ll still earn a percentage for each referral.

Affiliate program marketing benefits both the product owner and the affiliate marketer who is promoting the product. For the product owner, the benefits are that their active affiliates will promote their products and services for them so they are in effect getting a free source of publicity and sales.

For the affiliate marketer, promoting affiliate products saves them the bother of having to develop their own products or services. Because of this, anyone can become an affiliate marketer, set up a website and/or blog, and start selling products easily within a single day and for very little outlay. This is just one of the many attractions of affiliate program marketing on the internet. Another benefit is that the affiliate marketer doesn’t have to handle the product, the transaction process or even deal directly with the customer. Also, the affiliate marketer can sell as many as he or she can manage. This is especially true in the case of digital products such as e-books, software, music and video downloads.

If you’ve given some thought into venturing into affiliate marketing, first you’ll want to choose the market niche that you wish to work in and then seek out good quality affiliate products that you can promote to your chosen market.

Affiliate programs are usually free to join, and the signup process is very easy. Everything can be done online in a couple of minutes. You’ll be provided with affiliate links to the product sales page and a unique affiliate code which will be included in the link and which will identify you as the person who generated sales that comes from one of your links. This guarantees that you’ll be credited with the commission due to you.

Once signed up to an affiliate program, the next step will be to set up your website. Your aim should be to post a series of unique articles on your blog that are related to the niche you’re dealing with and the products that you’re selling. It’s a good idea to provide a lot of background information and not just sales pages. Your aim is not so much to sell ads to pre-sell the products you are marketing, but to supply a lot of good quality unique material to attract both your target markets and get your website highly ranked on the search engines.

This strategy should be backed up with other activities such as blogging, participating in relevant internet forums, social networking and so on. Your aim should always be to provide valuable content rather than try to directly sell your product. Make yourself a useful member of each online community that you participate in. Each time you post comments on forums or on other people's blogs, or on social networking sites, you’ll be able to leave a link back to your affiliate website. Other strategies would include writing and posting unique articles on article directories and posting solo ads in ezines.

Finally, one thing you’ll definitely want to do is capture the name and e-mail addresses of as many visitors to your website as possible. This is best done using an autoresponder service. Post an autoresponder form on your website where visitors will be able to leave their name and e-mail address in exchange for a free report relating to the products or services that you offer. When people fill-in your form, they’ll be added to your autoresponder mailing list, and you’ll be able to follow-up with them via e-mail.

So, as you can see, affiliate program marketing is a very cheap and easy business that you can set up. However, it does require a degree of work and dedication to make it successful. Regardless, every day more and more people are seeing the benefits of starting and running an affiliate program marketing business on the internet from the comfort of their own home.

I wish you the best of success,
