Online Video Promotion Strategies - Part 1

There will come a time when you will want to start using video promotion to help your website if you are serious about becoming successful with your internet marketing business. Internet streaming video is an industry that is growing rapidly and has been stimulated thanks to broadband being available across America and other parts of the world.

In 2008, about 75% of people who had access to the internet via a broadband connection were watching videos online. It is estimated that by 2012 around 90% of American internet users will use broadband, and 90% of those internet users will watch online videos. (Source: In-Stat.)

Videos are for more than just entertainment purposes, as they are also for education, practical advice such as "how-to tips" and for marketing. If you could create a video promotion that combines entertainment, how-to tips and marketing advice, the amount of traffic you could attract to your website could be huge.

Internet marketing videos that can be found in the public domain are quite short, only around three to five minutes long. Their job is to service the internet generation which wants its information to be delivered clearly, quickly and instantly.

The good news for home based internet marketers is that they do not have to worry about the format of the video as long as it has a clear message. Some of the most popular videos are comprised of "talking heads," and anybody can make a video like this with some cheap computer equipment. You can use a built-in monitor web cam or buy a cheap web cam without investing hundreds in an actual video camera.

One of the easiest ways to get your video promotion onto the internet is to host it on a video sharing site such as YouTube.com. Plus, this frees up a lot of bandwidth usage on your own site. YouTube.com makes the uploading process for videos very easy and straightforward.

Once your video promotion is uploaded to YouTube, you will be able to write a description for it that will be displayed next to the video on the YouTube video page. Be sure to include your keyword phrases in the description and also in the title of the video. If you are using a video to promote a product or service that is available online, be sure to add the URL link at the beginning of your description. Building backlinks from YouTube video pages is an excellent SEO strategy.

You may then want to post a copy of your video on your website, or simply link to the video page from your website. Again, YouTube makes this process very easy and straightforward because to the right of every video you can see the URL code and the embed code. Click the little blue button to the right of the embed code, and you can customize the appearance and size of the video screen that will appear on your website.

You can also modify the embed code manually to change the width and height of the video screen, for example, or to set the video so that it will start automatically when your web page loads. If you want to have your video automatically start, simply add &autoplay=1 to the end of the video URL in the embed code. If you want to have your video automatically loop, simply add &loop=1.

Autoplay link: embed src="URL&autoplay=1"

Loop link: embed src="URL&loop=1"

Adding video promotion to your website is not difficult and if it is used with consideration it can greatly enhance the experience of your visitors and draw more targeted visitors to your site.

In my next article I will discuss how you can insert links directly on or in the video itself.

I wish you the best of success,
